Why Jesk?

The name JESK is made up from our initials, Jessica, Emma, Stella and Kim.

 

JESK's main people are Emma Manning & Kim Boulton

 

History

Jesk originally traded as Hothouse Multimedia from 1997 to 2001, we were based at 10 Old Burlington St, Mayfair, London. Hothouse made many CD-ROMs and Enhanced CDs for entertainment companies such as UIP and Universal Music.

 

Kim (a bloke) does all the technical stuff. Kim started his IT career working on several temp jobs before joining EMI Swindon in 1987, then Motorola in Swindon for a bit, then Optech in Farnham,Surrey for several years until that was bought out by Koch Media, there's a bit of pre-internet history from CIX here, then onto Mayking Multimedia in Battersea, London for a few years before until that got sold off to DocData whereby he deciding to start up his own business. Kim's also worked on a farm, in a bicycle shop, at theatre and on several building sites.

Hothouse produced most of the top ten chart Enhanced CD singles in 1998! We tried to make our own Enhanced CD (or CD Extra as Sony used to call it) software player for other people to adopt but that never came to fruition. The Enhanced CD market never really caught on and the internet was getting momentum with music. There's a bit of the history of that here.

Hothouse also made several educational CD-ROMs which promoted films including:

And a load of corporate stuff as well.

 

In 2001 we moved to a studio at The Maltings, Farnham, Surrey and changed our name to Evolution Creative Limited, Evolution continued to make the odd CD-ROM and Enhanced CD but also expanded our facilites to include professional DVD authoring and web site design. From 2001 to 2008 Evolution Creative made the successful 'Interactive Karaoke' DVD range, SAS Band's 'The Show' DVD, Manfred Mann's 'Evolution' DVD as well as many commercial web sites. We also set up our own web server so that we could offer web hosting for the growing number of web clients we look after.

In 2008 we moved again, this time to the beautiful Gloucestershire town of Lechlade on Thames. We also changed our name again, we thought the Evolution Creative Limited name was a bit too long. So now we're just called Jesk. From 2008 to present we still make a few CD-ROMs, not many people want enhanced CDs or DVDs made any more but we still offer those services.

Most of our current work is in web programming although never being a business to stand still we branched out to offer mobile app development for iphone, android and windows mobile. We specialise in Adobe Flex programming.

 

As well as these services we also have a seperate service providing PC & Mac computer repairs on-site or from our office in Lechlade, we also do PC & Mac network installations, indoor and outdoor wireless networks & and also run myfiwifi.co.uk, local community wireless broadband networks, an upcoming FREE internet solution. Quite a diverse selection of skills!

 

We serve the local areas of Lechlade, Faringdon, Fairford, Highworth & Carterton although we have customers throughout the UK.
